BENEFITS TO ACID WASHING

Benefits beyond brightening up the finish :

 Fresh water - To continue the great health and serviceability we recommend refreshing with new

water. Acid washing helps to remove years of chemical residue. How old is the current water?

 Repairs - repair loose or broken tile, tighten loose handrails, ladders, replace returns, inspect main

drain cover per code.

Other points:

 We are not sure how old the pool water is, it is a good practice to refresh with new water every few

years based on bathing load and chemicals used such as treatment for phosphates and mustard algae.

 Pools treated with liquid chlorine for years which is high in TDS (total dissolved solids) and causes the

water to taste salty and will make the water dull. Below are a few links discussing the issue with TDS,

 Fresh water would also lower another chemical called CYA which the health department requires to

be below 100, last test we are at 80.

 Phosphates were at 500+, we like to see 100 or below. Phosphates consume chlorine causing us to

add more causing CYA and TDS to rise. Yes three is a lot of chemistry to the caring of a beautiful

pool 😊.

 Florida code requires the main drain grate to be free of defects, there are multiple broken threads.

It is also required you show documentation that the drain grate is within the manufacturer’s life

span (we have never seen this code questioned). When we replace the main drain grate this will be

resolved.

 Tile broken, one of our commercial pools was issued a courtesy warning by the health inspector

regarding broken tile. We were given a “Satisfactory”.

The result will be a beautiful sparkling pool for your owners. 
